Tour Free in Southern California

Jodi Jill

Whether you live in Southern California or are just visiting. Don't miss these free tours.
If you are looking for something to do, but don’t want to spend any money, consider taking a tour within our community. Whether attending with a group or touring solo there are structured tours offered free for the asking. Actually, over one hundred tours are available in the Southern California region with fifty in the Los Angeles area.

What is a free tour? Government agencies, companies and even individuals open their doors to allow residents and visitors a chance to explore how they contribute to the community. These tours are always free and you may get samples.

What tours should you take? How about the Los Angeles Pubic Library? This is more than just a tour of the library; it offers interesting insight into the community. An hour long, see a glimpse of the six million books available to patrons as well as the historic importance of the library which settled into the current location in 1926. Combining the Goodhue building and the Bradley Wing, your tour will follow a timeline in history with tour guides pointing out murals and art that might be easily overlooked.

Another exciting tour, a secret treasure of Southern California, is The Nethercutt Collection. Only seen by appointment, this two hour tour takes you back in time. The collection includes more than one hundred classic automobiles, musical instruments from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and an entire floor dedicated to a splendid glass collection. The famous hood ornament collection is also available for a look as well as the grand piano that only plays rolled live performance music. Guided tours are given by the curator of the museum. He shares his knowledge of every making this tour a grand recommendation.
